How To Choose A Workout That Is Right For You



Most of us think we have to be "in shape" to exercise our bodies. That we have to "look good" to wear exercise clothes to work out. 

I picked the above pictures, and the following pictures to illustrate something. 
We don't exercise our bodies so that other people can be proud of us. We exercise our bodies to get stronger.

Look at this woman above!
 I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS POSE IN MY LIFE! 
Even when I was dancing every single day! I got close once, then I fell over. She is standing there with no support, away from the wall, with her foot OVER HER HEAD and her hands and arms are BEHIND HER HEAD!

If you think you have to be in shape to start exercising, you are wrong my friend. 
What you DO need is a mindset that says:

I AM WORTH THIS!
i AM WORTH GETTING HEALTHY! 
I CAN DO THIS!
I AM DOING THIS FOR ME!
AND I AM GOING TO START TODAY!

Look at these people that are not "in shape" according to the world. But I guarantee that they are stronger than I am, although to the world I am more "in shape" than they are, because I don't have the weight that they do. Sad isn't it! That the world puts value on a person because of the size of their body instead of the size of their heart. 


This pose I can do! I sweat like a mad dog when I do it, but I can do this pose AND breathe at the same time. Yay!  . . . two weeks ago I couldn't do this pose. 


I can do this pose! But I fall over. I want you to notice the block under his hand. He is NOT leaning on the block, but rather using it for stability. I assure you that he will eventually get to the point where that block is no longer needed. . . I still fall over.


I for one am totally impressed with this yoga pose. I can't do it. I don't know if I even want to do it with chronic migraine, but one day I will do it at least once! I don't have the balance to even start this pose yet. Please notice that this woman isn't "fit" per the world. But she IS strong, which makes her fit. AND she is wearing "stretchy pants". Bring it on world!


I'm not here yet either! Can you imagine how strong her abs are and how strong her arms are??? Holy Moly!
I'm just sitting here in AWE at the strength I see in this picture! 

So how did I choose Beach Body 3 Week Yoga Retreat as my place to start getting healthy again?  Well, I didn't. I chose Beach Body YOUv2. Its dancing! I LOVE TO DANCE!

Man, I could NOT keep up with those dancers in YOUv2! And guess what?! Those ladies on YOUv2 looked just like these ladies and guy in these pictures! But they were strong, and they were getting fit, and I was just beginning! There was NO WAY I could even begin to keep up with the timing of the music (which drove me nuts! I was always behind a count or two. If you dance, you'll know what I mean here.) OR keep up with their movements! 

My FIT BIT watch liked me moving in YOUv2, and it even threw me a celebration with virtual confetti! But my breathing, body and mind didn't like YOUv2 because at this stage in my health, I just couldn't do it. I wasn't comfortable, and I wasn't happy. 

THAT RIGHT THERE told me that I was in the wrong program of exercise. At least for now.

So I called my coach and asked her what else was available. My coach is so awesome. She is available almost 24/7. Beach Body works with people who want to coach that are your friends. 
(YOU can be a coach right when you start a BeachBody Challenge Pack. That's what I am doing! )
They get to know who you are. I was in another weight loss program when I was younger that focused on healthy eating, moving, and coaching, but my coach was available one day a week for an hour. Although I was successful, it was because I did it on my own and made a lot of sacrifices alone. The coaching was weak then. I understand that it has improved, but it still doesn't compare with Beach Body coaches. At least in my book. 

My coach told me to try a few different beginning programs and find one that DID fit! Beach Body has a program when you sign up for a year that gives you access to ALL their fitness programs for the year! Have you heard of CIZE, or P90X? How about INSANITY? Or 21 DAY FIX? 
THOSE are Beach Body Fitness Programs. . . They are out of my league right now, but one day. . . 

The programs are called "Beach Body on Demand". You can take it anywhere with you on a streaming device. Your computer, tablet or phone! (I'm so excited about this because I can still exercise while travelling.... but I digress. . .
Sorry, you are getting to see how a Fibromyalgia Brain works now. It's called Brain Fog and lasts a while after a flare. Remember the one I had last week?)

I chose 3 Week Yoga Retreat because I could breathe, it was easy on my body, IT DIDN'T HAVE MUSIC TO KEEP TIME TO, the instructors were sweet and encouraged me to do my best while not overdoing it! They have a Moderation instructor that does modified poses if you can't stretch to the whole pose! and they remind you that you are worth getting healthy, even if you aren't there yet! 

Yoga is gentle on your body, but it works muscles that make you strong. It stretches you. It challenges you. and it gives you a break when you need one! You can fall over and start again! You can wear stretchy pants if you want to! I want to! . . . . my husband wants me to! LOL

Those are the biggest reasons why I chose the 3 Week Yoga Retreat. For me it was the best fit. What kind of exercises do YOU like to do? 

(I'll confess... my last favorite exercise was watching movies and eating gluten free chocolate chip cookies and drinking diet Coke. See! You're among friends here!)

And now I'm going to go get that Shakeology! My body is ready after my morning workout! I DID A FREAKIN' PLANK PEOPLE! FINALLY!!!!! It didn't last long, and my body screamed at me, but I did it! There you go FIT BIT! (Not much cardio in Yoga, so no "celebration", but I did get my heart rate up for a bit!)


Shakeology Recipe of the Day

In a Blender:

8-12 oz of cold water
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
orange container nut butter
Scoop of Ice

Blend until smooth and drink to your health!
