THAT. Does it get any clearer?
I find that in my later years, I am becoming a tight wad. Not for everything, but I definitely don't want to go buy more pants when I have a great wardrobe already! (If you count tons of levi's of all lengths and the array of t-shirts a great wardrobe!... don't judge).
So, like many of you I don't shop and I SQUISH my blubber belly into those jeans as I STRETCH them over my thighs while I jump up and down, and wonder where all the high waisted jeans went to that used to keep that muffin top in check! Ahhh.... the 1980's WERE good for something! ;)
Unfortunately the 2010's also have spandex. In levi's. They're good for a day or two, but then they are so big you have to go back to the "pant's dance" if you want to wear them again! First World Problems. I know. But the struggle is real.
Two days ago I got my box from Beach Body. It had these color coded measuring cups inside it, with a booklet to tell you how to use them. I spent the first day looking at the cute little TINY cups and reading the magical booklet of knowledge. This "bible" held my jean/thigh/butt question in it's magical hands. . . and a fibro-flare was coming on so my head wasn't thinking to clearly. I read that bible TWICE... I didn't comprehend that bible ONCE! hmmm....
So I did what any dieter does, and grabbed a Klondike bar and went to bed. You know you do it. It's like saying "I only had one cookie". That is a sin of omission.... you know that "one" meant "one HANDFUL". But I digress...
I got up yesterday and came out to my kitchen again to look at those tiny little measuring cups that I had dutifully washed the night before, and grabbed the bible again, and read it AGAIN. . . and it still was over my head.... I called my coach.
(If you remember, yesterday was a tough day. Fibro Flares - heck! ANY chronic illness flare - are horrible and put you right down in bed. I did exercise yesterday, and then spent the rest of the day laying on the couch.)
Cindee taught me how to use those little cups. Problem was I was so sick I didn't have the will or the energy left to get off the couch again. I DID drink my Shakeology, and it helped a lot, but it wasn't enough calories to keep my body going. Especially while it was trying to repair itself! WHAAAT? You NEED food to REPAIR your body? YES. Yes, you do.
And these are the babies that help you KNOW how to FUEL your body in a HEALTHY way. Meet my friends.
- Purple - holds fruits
- Green - holds vegetables .... They are like the parents that need to watch over you!
- Red - holds Proteins .... the teenager that helps the parents with the work
- Yellow - holds carbs
- Blue - holds healthy fats ... pre-teens that make life interesting
- and cute baby orange - holds seeds or dressings ... you can't get enough of babies, but if you don't be careful they will make a mess of you!
- their friend teaspoon comes over to play EVERYDAY - and holds healthy oils.
I apologize for the picture. I got it off google images. |
Measuring out wasn't hard. Looking at the food list wasn't hard. Making a tick mark to keep track of what I ate wasn't hard. Deciding what to eat was another matter. Can't I just grab something and go lay back down? NO, I can't! I promised myself that I would do this. And so I did.
And so I made my food, and ticked my paper, and took my plate out to the couch and took 2 HOURS to eat all the food! Holy Moly! Those little containers are Bigger than they look! Kind of like the 3rd child that thinks they are as big as their siblings and act like they are 25 when they are only 2! (that's my youngest, and my grandson. Different story...)
I had to do it again later because I didn't have all my check marks yet! ugh. I learned my lesson, and today I am setting my alarm on my phone to go off every 2-3 hours so I can spread that feast over the day instead of cramming it in my gut in a few short hours.
To be honest, it was quite easy to use that rainbow of health. The magical bible is a suggestion guide with nutrition information but not all inclusive. You don't need to be scared of healthy suggestions like I was.
I came out this morning like a trooper, feeling good and energized again. MADE MYSELF BREAKFAST with my cute rainbow friends, and then kicked my Yoga Session's behind! (While making mine smaller might I add!)
Today is day 5 of my transformation. I have lost 3ish pounds. (I say ish, because we all know weight varies day to day... but I'm down to 188!)
And now, I'm going to go grab my Shakeology, blend it with some spinach (you can't taste the spinach in shakes... or kale for that matter...) and Drink it to my Health! And then I'm going to go get my baby girl and her family from the airport! Yay!
Shakeology Recipe of the Day:
In blender container:
8-12 oz water
1 scoop VEGAN chocolate Shakeology - or those of us that are celiac, gluten intolerant, dairy free and vegan)
1 green container spinach
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp almond flavoring
1-2 cups ice
Blend and ENJOY!
And for those grammar people out there, I apologize. Im in a hurry today to get to that airport and the mis-spelled word is going to have to stay that way.
Sometimes we just have to let things that don't matter in the long run, go.
So we can get on to better things!
Have a nice day my friends!
